Ohio Historical Marker
The two-sided marker tells a brief history of the cemetery on one side and of Ohio City on the other.
To draw the public’s attention and curiosity to the cemetery and to proclaim the importance of this place, the Monroe Street Cemetery Foundation applied to the Ohio Historical Society for a marker that will eventually be placed on the tree lawn on Monroe Avenue not far from the entrance to the cemetery. The cost of such a marker is $2,250 and the Foundation and its membership raised the necessary funds. The marker is currently in storage and once the main cemetery entrance is reopened it will be installed and a dedication ceremony will be held.
